Studio Blog - Days 4 & 5 - Bass Guitar
Hi it’s Ash, I play bass guitar in City Of Lights.
I’ve been in the studio today laying the bass tracks for the new album. It’s sounding awesome!
Two more tracks to go with the bass and then it’s vocals, guitars and mixing.
It’s been great fun working on this record. Some of the tracks you will no well, some of the tracks are brand new. The album has a really nice flow to it and it’s alomst as if the songs were meant to sit together on the track list. You’ll have to wait a little bit longer to find out fully what I’m talking about, but I know you will love what we’re currently building.
The last 3 months have been great fun too, since I joined at the beginning of November. We’ve played some great shows, made a music video to Was It All Worth It which has also had regular radio play. We work hard, we dont settle for anything we think is not our best and that has really been shining through in the studio over the last week.

Today was a crazy day. Matt and I turned up to the studio to get set up, ready for me to lay the bass for the first track. I went into the live room and played around with my bass amp to get a really nice tone that we all liked and then started recording. We got a couple of songs in and then the snow started to get a bit heavier but didn’t think anything of it. We bashed on with the other songs, took some photos and footage for you all to see and then checked back through all the songs to make sure everything was perfect. I’m back in on Monday to finish the two remaining tracks and I can’t wait. I’m really excited for the finished product. We all know in our heads what we are aiming for, and Grant (the producer) is a master at getting it from brain to speakers. He’s fantastic to work with and really
knows how to bring the best out from each of us.
We left the studio and realised how much snow had actually fallen when we saw the cars up the hill stuck on the road side. The best part is Matt had no idea that was going to be him in about an hours time, painstakingly close to home. We made it home safely which means we’re alive and well and can crack on with recording the album.

I won’t rattle on anymore, I’ll leave you to count down the weeks, days and minutes which stand between you guys and the new City Of Lights album.
Thanks for reading, and thank you all so much for the continued support.
Ash x
